Tai Chi

Tai Chi Chuan, practiced by people all over the world, is a Chinese Martial Art. Most people, however, learn it not for self-defense, but to better their health mentally and physically. It can help the students relax as well as improve their flexibility, balance, and strength.

In Masters Studios Tai Chi class the students start with warm ups and stretching followed by fundamental exercises such as the Tai Chi walk. The students then begin to learn the first form, which is the 24 Movement Yang Style set. This is a standardized form, which takes about 4 – 6 months to learn. It is characterized by slow, low impact movements. As the form is memorized, the students are refining their techniques adhering to the principles of the Tai Chi Chuan.

Later the students will get further into Tai Chi by learning Tai Chi Jian(sword), 42 Combined set, Tui Shou (push hands), and more.

Tournaments, seminars and retreats that are taught by nationally known instructors are also available. The class is a great work out as well as being lots of fun. Please feel free to try a free class to see if it’s for you.
